Answer the following questions regarding the following 2 theories: Utilitarianism (teleological theory) & Deontology
a. Define for Each
Utilitarianism: This is an ethical theory which seeks to justify an action on the basis of the fructifying results of the action. The act that has the most good in the value sense of the oval of utility regard as many people as possible is the right thing to do.
Deontology: An ‘agent causal’ theory that is an account to do with the for-end or the purpose of the one who brings the act or action into being. Desire to be able to successfully evaluate the action of the judge in regard with ethical responsibilities and the principles.
b. Ideology for Each (basis behind the theory)
Utilitarianism: According to the discussed ideology the following propositions have to be followed: The actions should be guided by the attempt to maximize the utility, happiness or pleasure and to minimize suffering. This is the utilitarian view that conforms to the belief that the correct action is the one; which will bring the highest level of satisfaction to the greatest number of people.
Deontology: The given ideology assert that the value of an action is most appropriately defined by the ethical principles, and responsibilities irrespective of penalty. In other words, people have to do otherwise duty and principle.
c. Example for Each
Utilitarianism: A physician deceives a sick man with a terminal disease so as not to give him an undesirable result. This would be morally acceptable under utilitarianism if the resultant of the action is to increase pleasure on the universally bad conscience.
Deontology: A doctor does not set the intention of telling a dying patient that he or she is healthy as it will be telling a lie hence wrong. Ethical duties occasionally supersede the consequences as they should and need to do because they are duties.
