Disaster management plan

Develop a disaster management plan, in the form of a presentation, for addressing the risks you've identified in your risk assessment

As with your previous assessment, you'll need to incorporate research to share the most relevant and applicable knowledge in the field about how to handle the type of situation you've selected. This will also make your plan more compelling. So be sure to spend time researching information about experiences and solutions for the type of disaster you're focusing on. Also, if you haven't already, familiarize yourself with PowerPoint or similar software.

In your first assessment, you assessed risks and areas of need for a potential crisis situation and community you chose to focus on. In this assessment, you'll develop a disaster management plan for actually addressing the risks you identified earlier, and you'll do it in the form of a presentation.

As a master's-prepared nurse, you may well find yourself in situations that call for you to lead by bringing different stakeholders and representatives of agencies together. For this assessment, imagine that you're making a presentation to a group of leaders of local, state, and federal organizations. You've been tasked with giving clarity for the management of a disaster.

In Magnet organizations, nursing shared governance is a fundamental component that significantly determines the professional practice environment and organizational performance. This model gives the nurses at all levels an opportunity to be involved in decision making processes thus increasing ownership, responsibility, job satisfaction, morale, and retention rates (Nurmeksela et al., 2021). Nurses are empowered to bring their knowledge, suggestions, and feedback to the table and are treated as valued colleagues rather than subordinates. This is not only a positive factor for the work environment of nurses but also for the outcome of patient care. Research has also revealed that Magnet organizations with strong shared governance practices have fewer adverse occurrences, higher patient satisfaction, and improved quality results (Nurmeksela et al., 2021).

Moreover, Magnet organizations’ professional practice focuses significantly on autonomy, lifelong learning, and evidence-based practice (Rodríguez-García et al., 2020). It not only helps in the recruitment of qualified nurses but also helps in the improvement of their skills which is beneficial for the patients. At the moment, Magnet organizations promote clinical decision making among nurses hence low mortality and complications and high patient satisfaction. The focus on career advancement makes certain that nurses are conversant with the existing processes and strategies to improve patient experiences (Melnyk et al., 2020). Thus, the interdependence between nursing shared governance, the professional practice environment, and other organizational outcomes fosters a culture of excellence and innovation in nursing care in Magnet organizations.

It is clear that there is a connection between organizational results in Magnet companies, the professional practice environment, and shared governance in nursing. In nursing, shared governance refers to the cooperative decision-making process that gives nurses the authority to influence the practices and policies that impact their work at all levels. This all-inclusive strategy creates a professional practice atmosphere that respects the opinions of nurses, improves communication, and encourages cooperation between staff and management. Shared governance is frequently used by magnet organizations, organizations renowned for their high standards in patient care and nursing excellence, to foster a positive and stimulating work environment. Better patient outcomes, increased rates of nurse retention, and an overall improvement in the standard of care are all results of this alignment.

Shared governance gives nurses a sense of autonomy and allows them to participate in decision-making processes, which greatly increases nurse satisfaction. Nurses are more likely to feel appreciated and respected at work when they have a say in the procedures and work environment, which boosts job satisfaction. In addition to encouraging a sense of accountability and ownership, empowerment can inspire nurses to pursue excellence in patient care. Furthermore, shared governance fosters professional growth and cooperation, which can improve job satisfaction by offering chances for advancement and recognition. Consequently, shared governance enhances the work experience of nurses and fosters the prosperity and renown of healthcare establishments, especially those that hold Magnet accreditation.
